Motor Oil Myths vs. Reality

We know the importance of regular oil changes. What many don’t know is which of the motor oil tales are real and which are not. We at Land Rover Frisco are here to answer any questions you may have, whether related to motor oil or other automotive issues. Here are two common myths that need changing.

The first myth that we'll cover today concerns oil change frequency. The old rule is that oil should be changed every 3,000 miles. Motor oil should be changed at the intervals recommended by the manufacturer, which is often much longer than 3,000 mile intervals. You’ll find this in the owner’s manual.

The next myth is that the filter doesn’t need to be replaced at every oil change. This could be a big mistake, if followed. If your filter is not changed, the dirt from the filter will get back into the fresh oil and back on the engine.

If your vehicle is in need of an oil change, stop in at our Frisco service shop, and let us take care of you. If you have other automotive needs, we can take care of that as well.
