Range Rover Full-Size: Capability, Trims & DFW Pricing Guide

Not the Sport, not the Evoque—this is the flagship Range Rover, Land Rover's quietest, most refined SUV. Here's what separates its four trims, what a standard vs. long-wheelbase body actually buys you, and what it realistically costs to own one in DFW, from starting MSRP through financing.

The Short Version

The full-size Range Rover starts at $113,300 for the SE and climbs to $238,900 for the SV Black, with a plug-in hybrid, a turbo six-cylinder, and two V8 options in between. In DFW, it's most at home as a quiet, tech-forward daily driver that also handles long highway hauls to the Hill Country or a lake house without breaking a sweat—this is the model built for owners who want Land Rover's most serene ride, not its sportiest or most compact one.

Trim Ladder & Starting Pricing

Four trims, each built around a different powertrain.

Trim Powertrain Starting MSRP (SWB)
SE P400, 395-hp turbo I6 $113,300
Autobiography P550e PHEV, 543 hp $159,200
Autobiography P530, 523-hp V8 $174,800
SV 606-hp twin-turbo V8 $219,500Top trim
SV Black 606-hp twin-turbo V8 $238,900

MSRP excludes the $2,450 destination charge and reflects standard-wheelbase pricing; long-wheelbase and further-optioned builds run higher. Confirm current pricing with our sales team.

Note the gap between the two Autobiography powertrains: choosing the P550e plug-in hybrid over the P530 V8 at the same trim level saves roughly $15,600 up front, on top of whatever electric-mile savings come from daily charging.

Standard Wheelbase

Seats 5, Every Trim

The SWB body is the more agile, easier-to-park choice around DFW traffic and tighter garages, without giving up any trim or engine option.

Long Wheelbase

Stretch Room or a Third Row

LWB buyers choose between an outrageously stretched second row for two rear passengers, or a proper third row that brings total seating to seven.

Which body makes sense usually comes down to how the vehicle actually gets used day to day. For a lot of Frisco and Plano garages built around standard-length SUVs, the SWB body is the easier fit and the one most buyers land on by default. The LWB earns its extra length when a third row is a real, recurring need—carpool duty, extended family visits, frequent longer trips with more than five people—rather than an occasional convenience.

Engine Lineup

Engine Horsepower Notes
P400 395 hp Standard turbo inline-six
P550e (PHEV) 543 hp 53 mi EPA electric range, 0–60 in 4.8 sec
P530 523 hp Twin-turbo V8
SV powertrain 606 hp Tuned twin-turbo V8, SV and SV Black only

The P550e is the one to consider if most of your driving is local—53 miles of EPA-estimated electric range covers a typical DFW commute on electricity alone, with the twin-turbo six available to take over for longer trips. Towing tops out around 5,500 lbs on the P550e; if you need to tow more than that, our Range Rover vs. BMW X7 comparison covers how the gas-only V8 configurations stack up against a comparable BMW.

Interior Craftsmanship by Trim

Every trim gets leather seating as standard—Windsor leather on SE and Autobiography, semi-aniline leather (a softer, more natural-finished hide) on Autobiography and SV. SV trims add standard Body and Soul Seats, which use haptic transducers built into the seat to let you feel bass from the sound system rather than just hear it—a genuinely unusual feature outside six-figure luxury vehicles, and one that's hard to appreciate without sitting in it.

The jump from SE to Autobiography is felt mostly in materials and finish rather than added technology—semi-aniline leather, additional wood or metal veneer choices, and a noticeably quieter, more isolated ride at the same P550e or P530 power output. The move to SV adds genuine hardware on top of that: the more powerful 606-hp tune, standard Body and Soul Seats, and styling and wheel options exclusive to the SV and SV Black trims. For most DFW buyers cross-shopping trims, the practical question is less "what features do I get" and more "how much quieter and more finished does the cabin need to feel" to justify the jump in price—a question best answered by sitting in an SE, an Autobiography, and an SV back to back.

Cabin Quiet and Everyday Technology

The full-size Range Rover's reputation for a hushed cabin isn't just marketing—it comes from active noise cancellation working alongside thick acoustic glass and heavy cabin insulation to cancel road and wind noise before it reaches the cabin, which is a large part of why a long highway stretch feels shorter in this vehicle than in most SUVs at any price. The electronic air suspension self-levels automatically regardless of how the cabin and cargo area are loaded, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assistance is standard across the lineup, not reserved for the top trims. Cargo space behind the second row runs around 41 cubic feet on the P550e SE—enough for airport luggage runs or a Costco trip without needing to fold a seat down. None of this comes through in a spec sheet the way it does in person, which is exactly why we recommend booking a VIP test drive before deciding between trims.

Full-Size Range Rover vs. the Rest of the Lineup

"Range Rover" now covers three genuinely different vehicles, and the full-size model is the one built around quiet and presence rather than handling or size efficiency.

Range Rover (Full-Size)

The Flagship

The largest, quietest, most expensive of the three—built for effortless long-distance comfort over outright agility.

Range Rover Sport

Sharper, Lower

A tighter, more performance-oriented drive in a smaller footprint, at a noticeably lower starting price.

Range Rover Evoque

Compact & Urban

The smallest and most affordable Range Rover, aimed at buyers who want the brand's styling and cachet in a genuinely compact, easy-to-park footprint.

Built for North Texas Days A full-size Range Rover's cabin sealing and climate system are engineered for exactly the kind of summer DFW gets—triple-digit heat, long highway stretches to Austin or Oklahoma, and enough ground clearance to handle a flooded underpass after a hard rain without a second thought. It's also quiet enough at highway speed that a 3-hour drive doesn't feel much different from a 30-minute one, which matters more here than in a denser metro where most errands stay under twenty minutes and highway comfort rarely gets tested.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the full-size Range Rover like to own in DFW?

Quiet, comfortable, and well-suited to DFW's mix of daily traffic and long highway trips. Its air suspension and cabin insulation are tuned for smoothing out road imperfections rather than sport-tuned handling, and its climate and ground clearance handle North Texas heat and occasional flash flooding without issue.

What trims does the Range Rover come in?

Four: SE, Autobiography, SV, and SV Black. HSE was discontinued for this model year. SE starts at $113,300, and SV Black starts at $238,900, excluding destination.

What's the difference between standard and long-wheelbase Range Rover?

Both seat five as standard. The long-wheelbase body adds a choice between a dramatically stretched second row for two rear passengers, or a proper third row bringing total seating to seven.

How much electric range does the Range Rover PHEV get?

The P550e plug-in hybrid offers an EPA-estimated 53 miles of all-electric range, enough for most local DFW commuting on electricity alone before the gas engine engages.

Can a Range Rover tow a trailer?

Yes, though capacity varies by powertrain. The P550e plug-in hybrid is rated around 5,500 lbs; gas V8 configurations tow more. See our full breakdown in the Range Rover vs. BMW X7 comparison.

Is the full-size Range Rover the same as the Range Rover Sport?

No. The full-size Range Rover is the larger, quieter flagship model built for comfort. The Range Rover Sport is a smaller, more performance-oriented vehicle at a lower starting price.

Is there a fully electric Range Rover?

Not yet in the current lineup. The most electrified option today is the P550e plug-in hybrid, which runs on electric power alone for shorter trips and switches to its gas engine for longer ones.
