Where to get a Range Rover, Defender or Discovery serviced in Dallas–Fort Worth, what to have ready before you book, and which 2026 recalls to check for while your vehicle is in.
The short answer
For Land Rover service in Dallas–Fort Worth, book through an authorized Land Rover retailer such as Land Rover Frisco, where scheduled maintenance is carried out by Land Rover-trained technicians using Genuine Land Rover Parts, and where warranty repairs and recall remedies are performed at no charge. Book online with your VIN and mileage, run a recall check first, and describe any warning messages exactly as they appear on the instrument cluster.
A few minutes of preparation means the right parts and the right technician time are set aside before you arrive.
Step 1
Find your VIN and mileage
The 17-character VIN is on your registration, insurance card and the lower corner of the windshield. Note the current odometer reading.
Step 2
Check for open recalls
Enter the VIN at NHTSA’s recall lookup. If a campaign is open, mention it when booking so the remedy is handled in the same visit.
Step 3
Note what the car is telling you
Write down the exact wording of any message, such as “Service due” or a suspension or brake warning, and when it appears.
Step 4
Book the visit online
Choose the service type and a time in the online service scheduler, and add your notes from step 3.
Land Rover uses Flexible Service: the vehicle calculates when service is due from how and where it is driven, within a fixed ceiling.
Land Rover’s own prepaid maintenance literature lists two interval families for current petrol models. Four- and six-cylinder engines, including the Ingenium i4 and i6 in the Defender, Discovery, Range Rover Velar and most Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, run on a two-year or 21,000-mile ceiling. V8 models, including the Defender V8 and the V8 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, run on a one-year or 16,000-mile ceiling. Whichever limit arrives first sets the date.
The service indicator in the instrument cluster is the authority for your specific vehicle, because Flexible Service can bring the date forward. Short trips, towing, heavy stop-and-go traffic and extreme heat all count against oil life. That describes a lot of North Texas driving, from the Dallas North Tollway at rush hour to August afternoons parked in the sun. Our Land Rover maintenance schedule and cost guide breaks down what each visit includes and what drives the price.
| Engine family | Service ceiling | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Petrol i4 and i6 (Ingenium) | 2 years or 21,000 miles | Defender P300 / P400, Discovery, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport i6 |
| Petrol V8 | 1 year or 16,000 miles | Defender V8, Range Rover V8, Range Rover Sport V8 |
| Any model, severe use | Earlier, as the indicator sets it | Frequent towing, short trips, extended idling, sustained heat |

Three campaigns filed with NHTSA this year cover a large share of the 2019–2026 lineup. Recall remedies are free at any authorized Land Rover retailer.
| NHTSA campaign | What fails | Land Rover models covered | Remedy status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 26V248 | DC-DC converter in mild-hybrid (MHEV) models. Failure stops 12-volt charging and can lead to loss of drive power and exterior lighting. | 2019–2024 Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar with MHEV powertrains. 170,169 vehicles including Jaguar. | Remedy under development. Interim owner letters mailed June 2026. |
| 26V599 | Expansion of 26V248, covering DC-DC converter overload during high power demand. | Widens the year ranges on the same nameplates, adding 23,677 vehicles. | Software remedy proposed. Interim letters scheduled for November 2026. |
| 26V389 | Fretting corrosion in the connector between the steering-wheel clockspring and the driver airbag, which can prevent deployment. | 2020–2026 Defender, 2021–2026 Discovery, 2022–2026 Range Rover. 250,857 vehicles. | A protective gel is applied to the connector terminals. |

Dealer vs independent serviceYou are free to have routine maintenance done anywhere. Federal law says a warranty cannot be voided simply because an independent shop did the work, as long as the maintenance is done and documented. The reasons to come to an authorized retailer are practical ones.

Land Rover Frisco’s service department works with owners across Collin and Denton counties, including Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Prosper, Allen and The Colony. North Texas conditions shape what we look for at each visit. Summer heat is hard on 12-volt batteries and rubber components, stop-and-go traffic on the Tollway and US-75 is hard on brakes, and weekend towing to Lewisville Lake or Lake Texoma adds load to tires and the cooling system.
Choose a time that suits you and add your notes. Our service advisors will confirm the details.
Book your service appointment → Get directionsAny authorized Land Rover retailer can perform scheduled maintenance, warranty repairs and recall remedies. In north DFW, Land Rover Frisco serves owners from Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Prosper and Allen, and appointments can be booked online through the service scheduler.
Current petrol i4 and i6 Range Rover models are on a service ceiling of two years or 21,000 miles, and V8 models on one year or 16,000 miles, whichever comes first. The vehicle’s Flexible Service indicator can call for service earlier based on driving conditions.
The 2026 campaigns cover many 2019–2026 Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque and Velar models, but inclusion depends on the individual VIN. Enter your VIN at NHTSA’s recall lookup, and mention any open recall when booking.
No. Recall remedies are performed free of charge at authorized Land Rover retailers. Where a remedy is still under development, as with the DC-DC converter campaign, Land Rover notifies owners by letter when the fix is available.
No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a warranty cannot be voided just because someone other than the dealer performed maintenance. Keep records and receipts. Warranty repairs and recall remedies themselves are only performed free of charge at authorized retailers.
Bring your key, and note your VIN, current mileage, any warning messages word for word, and any open recall numbers. If you have a Land Rover Prepaid Maintenance Plan, mention it when booking so the visit is applied to the plan.
